Deputy Engineering Manager Location: East London Salary: £66,154.19 per annum Shift Allowance: £3,794.91 per annum Total Package: £69,949.10 per annum Industry: Bus / PSV / Public Transport Employment: Permanent   The Opportunity We are recruiting for an experienced Deputy Engineering Manager to join the engineering team in East London. This is a key management position, supporting the Engineering Manager with the day-to-day running of the engineering operation and ensuring a modern and varied bus fleet is maintained to the highest standards of safety, reliability and availability. Working in a busy TfL environment, you will have a direct influence on engineering standards, Health & Safety, fleet availability, employee wellbeing and the continued development of the engineering team. The depot operates a varied fleet of single and double-deck buses, including modern mirrorless vehicles, with electric buses also being introduced.   Key Responsibilities of the Deputy Engineering Manager / Assistant Engineering Manager / Fleet Engineering Manager / Engineering Supervisor / Chargehand / Workshop Manager Support the Engineering Manager with the day-to-day management of the engineering operation. Ensure vehicles are maintained safely and efficiently in line with company, TfL and DVSA standards. Lead, support and develop engineering staff, promoting high standards and a positive safety culture. Monitor fleet availability, maintenance standards and engineering performance. Assist with planning, prioritising and allocating engineering resources effectively. Support Health & Safety, fatigue management and employee wellbeing initiatives. Investigate engineering issues, identify improvements and make informed operational decisions. Ensure maintenance procedures, records and engineering processes are consistently followed.What you’ll need as Deputy Engineering Manager / Assistant Engineering Manager / Fleet Engineering Manager / Engineering Supervisor / Chargehand / Workshop Manager: Strong mechanical engineering and vehicle maintenance knowledge. Experience supervising or managing an engineering/workshop team. Experience working with large commercial vehicles, preferably PCVs/PSVs. Good understanding of electrical systems and vehicle engineering. Knowledge of vehicle bodywork and basic stores procedures. Strong planning, prioritisation and decision-making skills. A good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and engineering compliance. Excellent communication and people-management skills.
