Financial Controller

Financial Controller £65,000 - £80,000 Watford (Fully on-site - Please do not apply if you are unable to work on-site 5 days a week). Our client is a well-established construction business based in Watford, Hertfordshire. With a strong reputation built on delivering quality projects and a culture that values accountability, collaboration and commercial rigour, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Financial Controller to join the senior leadership team. The Role Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Financial Controller will take ownership of the full finance function, providing accurate and timely financial information to support strategic decision-making across the business. This is a hands-on, senior role suited to a commercially minded finance professional who thrives in a dynamic, project-driven environment. Key Responsibilities - Production of monthly management accounts, commentary and KPI reporting - Ownership of budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management - Overseeing all transactional finance, including AP, AR and payroll - Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements including VAT, PAYE and Corporation Tax - Supporting the MD with commercial analysis, contract reporting and business planning - Managing and developing the internal finance team - Liaising with external auditors, banks and professional advisors What We're Looking For - ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified - Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role - Construction industry experience is essential - candidates without this background will not be considered - Hands-on experience of a COINS system implementation is required - Strong technical accounting skills with a commercial outlook - Confident communicator, comfortable operating at board level If you're a senior finance professional looking for a role where you can make a real impact, we'd love to hear from you.
