I'm currently supporting a well established Law firm in Basingstoke who is recruiting for a legal secretary to cover a 12 month maternity contract supporting the Litigation and Employment team. The role will involve undertaking administrative tasks to support the Head of Litigation and the Employment department. This includes a wide range of tasks, in particular: • preparing documents and correspondence, including preparing mail and enclosures. • preparing letters and legal documents • typing from digital dictation • photocopying and filing; • opening and closing matter files; • handling telephone and other queries from clients and others including taking initial enquiries. • taking telephone messages; making appointments and managing diaries • General support for other Departments when necessary (e.g. in the event of sickness, absence on holiday cover or pressure of work) • Post cover where necessary • Liaising with the Administration Assistant regarding photocopying requirements and, where necessary (i.e. due to absence) to carry out photocopying • Working in tandem with other staff in the Department • Reception cover where necessary • Any other duties as reasonably directed by the Directors Requirements • Administrative experience within the legal sector; experience of working within Litigation or Employment would be advantageous but is not compulsory. • Experience of using computer and software systems; experience of case management systems would be beneficial. • Organised and able to prioritise working for multiple fee earners. • Proven ability to work from verbal instruction • High level of attention to detail and understanding of client confidentiality.
