Setting Out Engineer – Civil Engineering / Groundworks Location: Harlow, Essex Job Type: Permanent Sector: Civil Engineering / Groundworks / Infrastructure Salary: Competitive + Performance Bonus + Package Setting Out Engineer – Harlow We are currently recruiting for an experienced Setting Out Engineer to join an established civil engineering contractor on a long-term project in Harlow. Due to continued growth and the commencement of a new phase of works, the successful Engineer will join an established site team and take responsibility for setting out, surveying, site control and providing technical support throughout the project. This would suit an experienced Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer from a civil engineering, groundworks or infrastructure background looking for a permanent position offering long-term work and genuine progression. Responsibilities * Setting out civil engineering and groundworks packages accurately on site. * Establishing and maintaining the site's primary control network. * Undertaking site surveys and producing accurate setting-out information. * Using Leica Total Stations, GNSS/GPS and levelling equipment. * Ensuring works are delivered accurately and to the required drawings and specifications. * Providing technical advice and assistance to site teams. * Monitoring quality and identifying potential issues before they affect programme or delivery. * Supporting the management of site operatives and subcontractors. * Liaising directly with the Project Manager and wider delivery team. * Attending site and progress meetings. * Maintaining high health & safety standards. * Assisting with general site management and client interaction where required. Requirements * Previous experience as a Setting Out Engineer / Site Engineer within civil engineering or groundworks. * Civil Engineering degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification preferred. * Strong surveying and setting-out experience. * Competent using Leica one-man Total Stations and GNSS/GPS equipment. * Experience using levelling equipment. * Good working knowledge of AutoCAD 2D and Microsoft Office. * Trimble GPS modelling/excavator systems experience advantageous but not essential. * Valid CSCS card. * SMSTS/SSSTS and First Aid advantageous. * TWS/TWC, Gold CSCS and Confined Spaces qualifications advantageous but not essential. * Full UK driving licence essential. * Full right to work in the UK.
