Design Manager Location: Basildon, Essex Working Pattern: 4 days per week in the office Type: Permanent About the Role Our client is looking for an experienced Design Manager to join their team based in Basildon. This is a key role for an experienced construction professional with strong technical and design management experience, particularly within projects subject to the Building Safety Act (BSA) and Building Safety Regulator (BSR) requirements. The successful candidate will have strong practical experience with the Gateway process, including Gateway 2 and Gateway 3, and will be confident managing design compliance and coordination throughout the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage design delivery across multiple projects Coordinate design teams, consultants, subcontractors and project stakeholders Manage design programmes, deliverables and technical submissions Ensure designs meet project, regulatory and statutory requirements Manage design compliance in line with the Building Safety Act Coordinate and manage BSR Gateway submissions Ensure projects are appropriately prepared for Gateway 2 and Gateway 3 Review technical information, drawings and specifications Identify and resolve design risks and technical issues Maintain accurate design records and documentation Support project teams throughout construction and handover Requirements Proven experience as a Design Manager within the construction industry Strong experience managing complex design packages and multidisciplinary teams Significant practical experience with BSR and Gateway processes Strong understanding of Building Safety Act requirements Experience preparing and coordinating information for Gateway 2 and Gateway 3 Ability to manage design risk and compliance effectively Strong technical knowledge and attention to detail Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and project deadlines Package & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience 4 days per week in the Basildon office Opportunity to work on technically challenging projects Long-term career development opportunities Supportive and collaborative working environment Opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of BSR-compliant projects
