Mechanical Design Engineer Role: Electro-mechanical Salary: £45,000–£55,000 (dependent on experience) Location: South Cambridgeshire An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established and innovative product development company. The company specialises in the design and development of electro-mechanical scientific instrumentation, taking products from initial concept through to full-scale production. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, leading the transfer of R&D concepts through to manufacturable products as well as factory testing activities. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a real impact by working on cutting-edge R&D projects and optimising concepts for seamless manufacturing. Key Responsibilities: * Take R&D concepts to a manufacturable product * Ensure designs are optimised for manufacture and assembly (DFM/DFMA) * Lead factory acceptance testing * 3D CAD design * Build and test prototypes * Work closely with a cross-functional R&D team across electronics, software, and systems * Participate in design reviews, problem-solving sessions and continuous improvement initiatives Skills & Experience Required: * Strong background in developing electro-mechanical systems * Experience in taking a product to manufacture is a must * Tooling, jigs and fixture design * Strong DFM and DFMA understanding * 3D CAD design skills - Solidworks * Strong understanding of manufacturing techniques If you’re looking to join a business that values creativity, quality and innovation, then apply with a copy of your CV
