Fitter Welder Location: Darlaston, Wednesbury WS10 8BE Contract: 3 months Pay: £620 p/w We are recruiting for an experienced Fitter Welder for a short-term engineering contract working on the repair and refurbishment of all sizes of leaf springs from vintage vehicles including steam locomotives. Duties: * Strip down multi-leaf spring packs by cutting the central clamp using a hydraulic press/jig * Identify and remove broken, damaged, or fatigued leaves * Degrease and clean complete spring assemblies * Drill and prepare replacement leaves * Fit new leaves to specification * Clamp and align repaired leaf spring assemblies * MIG weld heavy-gauge steel central clamps * Carry out final inspection of completed assemblies Requirements: * MIG welding experience on heavy-gauge steel * Experience using drills, grinders, and fabrication equipment * Ability to work with heavy engineering components * Good mechanical assembly skills * Reliable with a strong focus on quality and safety Hours: * 8am to 4pm Monday and Friday and 8am to 5pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. This is a temporary position that starts immediately
